State of Global Education: Photo Essay of Schools Around the World

These coffee-table apps tour the issues of schools and education around the world. Apps present the current educational topics in Asia, Commonwealth Nations, Europe, The Americas, and the United States. Click on the image to the right to access the Asia app. (ed: For President Obama's November trip to India, we've a tour of schools in India, as well.)

Rather than a political statement, these apps simply gather and present the current discussions around the world. This is not an attack on teachers, but rather the bureaucracy that dominates education discussions in the United States.

While the USA discussions have been focused on budget deficits, classroom sizes, teacher credentials, and low achievements among students -- the poorer countries in the rest of world marches forward with the global challenge to educate. The rest of the world focuses on the kids in school; these photo tours present evidence of the overwhelming dominance of bureaucatic roadblocks in the USA. Sorry, that's what the pictures show ;-)

USA Elections

Education budgets is a hot subject for the current US elections. The US pays more per child than most nations. Why pay more for less?

Do we need to push for better productivity in education?

Should the discussions focus more on the kids versus the USA processes for standards, examinations, and special interests?
